NetApps filer commands

Some of the useful commands for netapps filer maintenance

1. Create new snapshot

syntax: ssh  < filer name >  snap  create <volume name>

ssh datamartdbnfs001.corp.ck1.abcd.com  snap create database_01 database01_db_bkp

2. List netapps snapshot:

syntax: ssh  < filer name >  snap  list <volume name>

$ssh datamartdbnfs001.corp.ck1.abcd.com snap list database_01 Volume database_01

%/used       %/total  date          name
———-  ———-  ————  ——–
1% ( 1%)    0% ( 0%)  Dec 19 16:54  database01_db_bkp

3. List the snapshot size in Giga bytes

syntax: ssh  < filer name >  df -g <volume name>

ssh datamartdbnfs001.corp.ck1.abcd.com df -g database_01
Filesystem               total       used      avail capacity  Mounted on
/vol/database_01/      480GB       23GB      456GB       5%  /vol/database_01/
/vol/database_01/.snapshot      120GB       17GB      102GB      15%

4. Renaming the current snapshot

syntax: ssh  < filer name >  snap  rename <volume name> <source snapshot name> <Target snapshot name>

ssh datamartdbnfs001.corp.ck1.abcd.com  snap rename database_01 database01_db_bkp database01_db_bkp.old

$ssh datamartdbnfs001.corp.ck1.abcd.com snap list database_01 Volume database_01

%/used       %/total  date          name
———-  ———-  ————  ——–
1% ( 1%)    1% ( 1%)  Dec 12 16:53  database01_db_bkp.old

5. Delete the current snapshot

syntax: ssh  < filer name >  snap  delete <volume name> <snapshot name>

ssh datamartdbnfs001.corp.ck1.abcd.com  snap delete database_01 database01_db_bkp.old

6.  Disables the hourly weekly nightly automatic snapshots.

syntax: ssh  < filer name >  snap sched <volume name> 0 0 0

$ssh datamartdbnfs001.corp.ck1.abcd.com snap sched db2 0 0 0

7. Flex clone volume creation from snapshot

syntax: ssh  < filer name > vol clone < flex clone name > -s file < volume name > < snapshot name >

ssh datamartdbnfs001.corp.ck1.abcd.com vol clone create database_01_Daily_01_fc -s file -b database_01 database01_db_bkp

8 Flex clone volume mount command (Linux /etc/fstab file)

datamartdbnfs001.corp.ck1.abcd.com:/vol/database_01_Daily_01_fc   /mnt/database01   nfs        rw,bg,hard,nointr,nolock,timeo=600,actimeo=0,rsize=32768,wsize=32768,vers=3,tcp 0 0

9  Making Flex clone volume offline

syntax: ssh < filer name > vol offline < flex clone name >

$ssh  datamartdbnfs001.corp.ck1.abcd.com vol offline  database_01_Daily_01_fc

Volume ‘database_01_Daily_01_fc’ is now offline.

10 Destoring Flex clone volume

syntax: ssh < filer name > vol destroy  < flex clone name >

$ssh datamartdbnfs001.corp.ck1.abcd.com vol destroy  database_01_Daily_01_fc

Are you sure you want to destroy this volume? y
Volume ‘database_01_Daily_01_fc’ destroyed.
